Saturday, 11th of October
On the 11th of October the launch campaign team in Kourou undertook a walk along the Sentier du Rorota, located between Rémire-Montjoly and the port of Dégrad des Cannes. We made about 5.5 Km in about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The Sentier du Rorota is a publicly accessible trail frequented by families and groups seeking recreational exercise. This route provides an easy and pleasant approach to the Guiana forest. Most of the path is in the forest, with sections passing through wooded areas, but there is also a lookout point offering notable views of the coastline. The terrain is moderately hilly and traverses several watercourses, presenting opportunities to observe local wildlife such as sloths and birds.
During the walk, we heard some birds which hid quite well amongst the dense vegetation, but we were lucky to see one sloth atop a tall tree, to spot some monkeys and to encounter quite a few lizards. The presence of some impressive bamboo trees also contributed to the scenic environment.

After the hike, we enjoyed a good lunch at the restaurant Auberge des Plages, situated by the beach.
