The Copernicus Sentinel-1C satellite has arrived in French Guiana!
It was an early start for the Sentinel-1C team, with a 3:30 am wake-up to drive to Cayenne Félix Eboué Airport. Cayenne is approximately a one-hour drive from the European Spaceport (CSG) is based just outside a town called Kourou.
It seems Sentinel-1C was eager to come to the warm tropical climate of South America as the flight landed an hour ahead of schedule!
The team gathered to witness the offloading of Sentinel-1C and its essential support equipment from the Antonov. The entire offloading process, including transferring everything onto dedicated transport, takes about three hours. Once completed, the equipment and satellite are assembled into a convoy with a police escort, ensuring a secure and safe journey all the way to CSG.
