Busy Week of Testing

On Friday, 11th October, the Propulsion (Fuelling) team pressurised the Sentinel-1C fuel tank with nitrogen to check for leaks in the valves and tank. After de-pressurising the tank the following day, the team confirmed the test was successful. Due to the hazardous nature of this task, only essential staff had access to the clean room. On Monday, the Satellite team began functional tests on all subsystems, with some working in the clean room while the AIT team managed operations from the LBC.

Our colleagues at ESOC (https://www.esa.int/About_Us/ESOCperformed a validation test to confirm they could receive telemetry from Sentinel-1C, marking their first test as they prepared for the next phase.

Meanwhile, our launch provider received parts of the Vega C launcher (Rocket) and began assembling it as they prepared to receive our beloved Sentinel-1C in approximately a month’s time.

Gregory and Fulvio left this week,

Gregory made his way to Esoc to start a simulation campaign, where the team simulate the launch and deployment of Sentinel-1c, this campaign takes approximately a week, with very long hours of working and simulation of all potential circumstances that can happen in the launch and early orbit phases.

Our super fit Product Assurance & Safety Manager Fulvio made his way home to get ready to run the Amsterdam marathon, We wish him every success, we know he can do it as he was running every morning here in 28-degree heat with high humidity at 6 am.
